About the event
Simply being outside in the wonder of nature is something that we have to do often to maintain a deep connection to the Earth. This is how we soothe and nurture our souls. There is wisdom and healing in the beautiful natural world around us. Join Yael Edelstein and her brown pup for an hour-long adventure through the woods and wild meadows in the Frederick area. Discover not only the medicinal and culinary uses of native plants, but also their folklore and magical uses. We will follow the plants; visiting different local ecosystems as different plants reach their peaks, and exploring the vibrant smells, tastes, and textures that each season has to offer.
This spring, walks may include encounters with bluebells, stinging nettles, wild greens, and edible flowers, along with instructions for safely harvesting and preparing these plants to be consumed or otherwise enjoyed. You might go home with an arm full of greenery!
Be prepared for a moderate 1 mile hike and several minutes of silent walking meditation. Please dress in layers, wear appropriate shoes, bring water, and let us know if you're allergic to dogs. Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with the meeting location for each walk and more details about suggested clothing, etc.
Walks are $15 per sign up, with payment due at the time of the hike.
