Runes: Divination, Mythology, & Magic
Time & Location
About The Event
If the Tarot is about storytelling, then the Runes are poetry. Each ancient symbol in the Runic alphabet packs an ocean of meaning into a few simple lines, and contains its own energetic signature as powerful as that of a healing crystal. Join Julie Skaarup to unpack the mythological stories and concepts behind each of the Runes, to explore how the Runes can be used as a system of divination as versatile as the Major Arcana of the Tarot deck, and discuss how Runic symbols can be used for practical magic and energy work in your daily life.
This afternoon workshop will combine lecture, storytelling, activities and group discussion to give you a meaningful, hands-on approach to this beautiful system of magic. We'll take a conscientious look at the history behind these cultural symbols, explore different methods of casting Runes carved on wooden staves for divination, and create our own plans for how to incorporate these symbols into our personal magical or spiritual practices. Bring a journal and a curious mind!
