Beltane Flower Feast

Have you tasted a fresh redbud tree blossom? They are delicious! A perfect addition to salads, they have a nice tang to them and as much substance as fresh peas.

Redbuds are just one of the flowers that graced our table at MoonHaven's recent Beltane feast.

We started the day with a lovely foraging adventure to the local arboretum. Not only were the redbuds in bloom, but there were plenty of violets and enormous dandelions! We stopped by to visit a witch hazel tree, and a wonderfully fragrant lilac. At one point, bagpipes could be heard in the distance. Was it a local musician rehearsing, or possibly the distant sounds of the Faery Realm? The world may never know!

When we returned with our basket full of bounty, it was time to lay the table for our tea party Beltane feast.

The red buds made a lovely addition to a pasta salad with tarragon, and the violets were the perfect compliment to the cucumber sandwiches, adding a satisfying bit of crunch. With a plate of scones, a pot of hot tea, and a bowl of fresh berries, we were set for a delightful tea time. Fresh peonies decorated the table, and more friends arrived with tasty morsels and fancy drinks. Our centerpiece was a gluten free three layer chocolate cake with a few floral touches of its own!

After the feast, we gathered around the fire for ritual. We shared meditation, prayer, crafting, and song together as we stood around the circle.

There is perhaps nothing quite so nourishing as a group of kindred spirits gathered together with open hearts and good intent. From all of us at MoonHaven, we hope that you will have a beautiful, blessed Beltane and a bright joyful summer! Thank you for being part of our community of seekers, magic workers, and light bearers.

Gratitude and blessings to you!
