Creating sacred space is an integral part of any spiritual practice. When we take the time to set the stage for our sacred introspection, the psyche is often more able to comfortably drop into a deeply connected state of being. A regular ritual practice also helps to build neural pathways that tell our nervous system it is time to shift gears from the outer world to the inner world. Regardless of what wisdom tradition you favor, there are some basic building blocks to creating a meaningful ritual that awakens the senses and creates the container for a spiritual experience of any sort, from personal meditation to large community gatherings.
